I seldom have nightmares and I never thought it's this terrifying. I woke up around 1 am to work. At around 4:30 my Internet connection was acting real bad so I decided to went to bed.

I laid awake in my bed for several minutes and then I felt my consciousness drifted away to what I thought was a good night sleep. I first felt my arms then my body went numbed and the next thing I knew I was struggling and was panicking. I was struggling to move and to speak, I knew I Peterson was next to me and I want to grab him to wake me up, but i can't. I felt the urgency to wake up because if I won't, I'd die. :| I only saw white, it's like a bright light shined on everything. Seriously, I thought I would die. I kept saying that I don't want to die, I tried to shout but I could't even make a sound. I then started praying. I recited Our Father because I somehow knew that I would wake up by calling Him and also to erase the illusions my mind was starting to create (believe me it's an ugly vision). I just recited Our Father several times and finally I broke free from the sleep spell. I was breathing real hard and was trying to get all the oxygen I have from my lungs. I could compare the feeling of somebody tried to drown me and then finally I was able to get some air. When Peterson heard me, he was alarmed and immediately went up from bed and got me a glass of water. He thought I was having an asthma attack.

I know I'm not the only one who experienced this. I've never been this terrified in my entire life and I'm somehow glad that it's just a dream. Now my question is, can nightmares kill?

Wow thats a very intense nightmare...i was getting scared jsut reading it. sounds scary..
Yes, unfortunately, nightmares can kill. It is caused by a malfunction of the pancreas wherein the sleeper experiences difficulty in breathing and may cause death if not awakened in time. This is called sleep apnea or difficulty in breathing when asleep.Rico Yan died at a very young age because of it. The remedy to this is praying before going to sleep to induce peaceful slumber and avoid eating heavy food before going to sleep. I have been victimized by nightmares all my life but the Lord always saves me from all evil attacks. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
