Breathe Taking Sky Lanterns

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

When I see photographs of sky lanterns my heart would always skip a beat. I've always adored night lights, you know lights during the night. LOL Yes, that includes city lights, STARS (stars will always be no. 1), traffic lights, bright colorful lights, Christmas lights, anything! And sky lanterns are one of  the most beautiful things to see, it's just breathe taking.  Others call it wish lanterns, maybe because it's like sending your wishes or letters to heaven. The word pretty is an understatement to describe them. This could be perfect for weddings, just imagine sending off your promises of love to heaven.

In Thailand they have Yi Peng. Yi Peng refers to full moon night of the 12th lunar month.

The Yi Peng Lantern Festival, commonly known as Festival of Lights, is annually organized by the Chiang Mai Municipality. Tubular lanterns, resembling hot air balloons, are lit and released into the night sky as an offering the Lord Buddha. As hundreds of illuminated lanterns drift into infinity, this conjures the same sense of wistful closure as the krathong float downstream. Maybe I'll die when I'll go to a lantern festival. Cause of death: Asthma attack due to too much excitement! HAHA
